The Mortal Kombat franchise has played home several popular characters from movies, such as Freddy Krueger of Nightmare on Elm Street fame, Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, and recently we were treated to Predator from, well, Predator. That being said, it has recently been revealed that at one point, the Terminator almost made the cut.
This was confirmed by NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon on Twitter where he mentioned that conversations did take place about bringing the character to Mortal Kombat X. Had the talks been successful, you would have been able to download the character via a DLC pack. Unfortunately for whatever reason, the talks did not pan out.
No doubt the inclusion of the Terminator would have been an interesting one, especially when you consider that the Terminator battling Predator is probably a dream come true for many movie fans, especially given the fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger was featured in both movies, plus it would have been awesome to see what kind of fatalities the Terminator would have been given.
In the meantime as pointed out by Game Rant, gamers who want to play as the Terminator can still do so in the upcoming WWE 2K16 where the character is a pre-order DLC bonus. So, would you have liked to see the Terminator make its way onto Mortal Kombat X? We know we would!
