Apple’s decision to sell its smartwatch through Best Buy appears to be paying dividends for the company, Best Buy CEO Hubert Joly said today that the retailer is going to expand availability of the Apple Watch to all of its 1,050 retail locations across the United States following the strong demand that it has seen for the Apple Watch at its stores. The retailer had initially planned to have the wearable device in stock in 300 locations by the holiday season.
Prior to being sold through Best Buy the Apple Watch could only be purchased through Apple’s online store or the company’s own retail stores, this is the first retailer that has the wearable device in stock.
Best Buy and Apple’s relationship is expected to further grow in the coming days with the retailer expected to start selling premium AppleCare plans as well.
The retailer has been working with Apple to update 740 stores-within-a-store that were first implemented in 2007, they’ll get new Apple fixtures as well as more tables for phones, computers, tablets and obviously the Apple Watch.
The CEO confirms that starting September 4th Best Buy will have the Apple Watch in stock at 900 of its big box stores across the United States, by the end of September this wearable device will be available at the retailer’s 1,050 big box stores in the country as well as at 30 of its Best Buy Mobile stores.
