If there is one thing Blizzard is known for it would be the attention to details in their games. The company has no qualms at cancelling games or delaying them as long as it means that the final product is a polished one. That being said when the last chapter in StarCraft 2 was announced last year, we expected that we might probably see it in 2016.
However it turns out that maybe we won’t have to wait so long. During Blizzard’s quarterly earnings, the developer revealed that there is a good chance that Legacy of the Void could be released by the end of 2015. However it should be noted that the developer points out that it is “expected” to be released in 2015, meaning there is always some wiggle room for a possible delay.
Like we said, Blizzard’s history and habit of delaying the release of their games is well documented, but with their popularity and reputation for high-quality releases (server issues set aside), many players are content with waiting. In the meantime Legacy of the Void is expected to conclude the StarCraft story for good.
This doesn’t mean that there will no longer be StarCraft games, it’s just that we’ll probably look forward to new stories and characters. In the meantime Blizzard has also announced the Whispers of Oblivion prologue missions which will be available to all gamers at a later date, but will be released earlier to gamers who pre-order Legacy of the Void.
