sprint

Sprint users will now find it a bit cheaper to travel Canada, Mexico and several countries in Latin America with their existing mobile connection. The carrier has announced that it will provide 1GB of free 3G data to all customers traveling to the aforementioned countries. Travelers in these countries will also be able to send and receive text messages as well as calls at no additional charge to them.

The carrier has already announced previously that it will provide unlimited 2G data to users roaming in Latin America and it doesn’t look like this promotion builds on top of that.

Once users have run out of their free allotment of 1GB data, which doesn’t count against their domestic data allotment, they can pay $30 per GB which will be billed by the MB so if less is consumed users pay less.

Sprint calls this the Open World plan which supports Mexico, Canada, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Paraguay. Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay will be added to the list soon.

Sprint Open World also brings $0.20/minute calls for travelers roaming across Europe, Middle East and Asia with free texting and data available at $30 per GB in countries such as Australia, England, Germany, Japan, Russia and more.
