However in case those trackers weren’t good enough, you might be pleased to learn that swimwear company Speedo has teamed up with wearable maker Misfit to create the Speedo Shine, which in case it wasn’t obvious enough is a fitness tracker designed specifically for swimming enthusiasts.
The main difference here would be its lap counting algorithms which will supposedly do a better job at collecting biometrics from swimmers. According to Speedo, “Proprietary lap counting algorithms embedded in the device’s firmware track a swimmer’s lap count with industry-leading accuracy,” which according to the press release has been validated by Speedo’s own in-pool testing.
The tracker will also play nicely with the Misfit app for iOS and Android and will sync laps and swim distance data. If this sounds like a wearable you might be interested in, the Speedo Shine is expected to go on sale come 1st of September via Misfit, Speedo, or Apple stores where it will be priced at $79.
