We have been hearing rumors that Sony has an Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact in the works, but now according to a new report, it has been suggested that Sony could be working on a larger version of the handset called the Sony Xperia Z5 Plus. In fact according to its UAProf, it has been suggested that the handset could sport a 4K display.
Assuming this is true, it could very well be that Sony will beat everyone to the market with a 4K display. Prior to this it had been suggested that Samsung could bring a UHD display to the Galaxy Note 5, but the recent rumors have indicated that Samsung will keep using a QHD display for the time-being.
Unfortunately the UAProf only reveals the device’s screen resolution, but does not mention how big its display will be. However Xperia Blog has speculated that we could be looking at a 5.5-inch display, although at the moment we can’t confirm the Xperia Z5’s display size to determine if sporting a 5.5-inch display would qualify the device being called a “Plus”.
The UAProf also confirms that the handset will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor which is similar to the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact, so if you were hoping for the Snapdragon 820 you might be disappointed. Take it all with a grain of salt for now, but Sony is expected to host an event at IFA on the 2nd of September, so hopefully we will have additional details then.
