Even since the mobile phone was invented there has been a steady fluctuation in size, it was up to the companies to decide whether they were going to offer devices with large sizes and big displays or go with more moderate sizes. Recently though the trend shifted towards larger devices with big displays, they’re commonly called phablets, and Samsung wants you to know that they’re better than your moderately sized smartphone.
In a post published on its official blog today Samsung pointed out seven reasons why “bigger is better,” it says that a big screen plays its part since it allows us to “share every moment of life in a more creative way.”
The first advantage it mentions is taking pictures, sure the display size has nothing to do with camera quality, but a larger display does act as a large viewfinder so it’s easier to get a better idea of what you’re photographing. Sames goes with filming videos and if you want to edit those videos on the fly it’s much easier to do that on a phablet than it is on a smartphone.
Bigger screens are also better because they provide a much more immersive experience when reading e-books or browsing the web since the display is capable of showing far more content. Samsung devices also make use of the increased screen real estate by allowing users to use two apps simultaneously.
A bigger screen also makes texting and emailing much more convenient, the same can be said for actions likes writing memos or editing work files. Two major advantages of a big screen are watching movies and playing games all of which look much better on a phablet.
I’m sure you’re all aware why Samsung suddenly wants to extol the virtues of phablets: it has a new one coming out on August 13th.
