It has been less than a week since the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was officially announced, but it looks like the folks at PhoneBuff have decided that a drop test was in order. Now we have to admit that the Galaxy Note 5 is one of the most beautifully designed Samsung handsets to date. It features metal and glass and is truly a sight to behold.
However we suppose given its luxurious build, some might be thinking that it will be extremely fragile, but interestingly enough despite the numerous drop tests conducted by PhoneBuff in the video above, the Galaxy Note 5 has surprisingly managed to hold its own. Now instead of dropping the phone by releasing from a hand, PhoneBuff decided to be a bit professional about this one.
They turned to the use of an actual drop test machine which helps make the tests more uniform and fair. They dropped the phone from various angles at a height of 1 meter, such as on its back, on its side, and on the front. Interestingly enough the phone’s glass actually cracked visibly more on its back than one the front.
However when dropped on its side, the Galaxy Note 5 appeared to have very little damage with some minor scrapes, although we suppose there is always the chance that the impact on the edge could lead to the glass on the front and back to shatter, but in this case it was fine. What does this mean for the end user? Basically if you drop your phone, it should continue to work just fine, but if you’d like to preserve it in its current state, we’d suggest you get a case for it.
