The Resident Evil franchise is an extremely popular one that has spawned many titles, along with several movies, and at one point there was even a Resident Evil attraction hosted at Universal Studios. That being said, it seems like fans of the franchise will now have a new way of enjoying the Resident Evil universe in the form of a stage play.
You read that right, starting this October, Capcom will be bringing Resident Evil onto the stage where we will be meeting familiar characters such as Chris, Rebecca, and Piers. According to a post by Inside Games (via Siliconera), they have pretty much summarized what we can expect from the upcoming play.
According to the summary, “The stage is set in a western Australia university, where a bioterrorism incident occurs. A couple of anti-bioterrorism members from BSAA in Chris and Piers show up to investigate, and they’ll work with former S.T.A.R.S. member Rebecca, who is currently working as a professor at the university.”
“A mysterious young man named Tyler Howard also shows up, but no one knows anything about him; however what he also seems to know the shocking truth behind the incident.” It sounds like your typical Resident Evil setup, although we have to wonder how it will translate into a stage play.
This is actually not the first time Capcom has brought their games to life. Previously the company had launched stage adaptations of some of their other games such as Ace Attorney and Sengoku Basara.
