Razer Unveils 3D-sensing Camera With Intel’s RealSense Technology

razer realsenseIntel’s RealSense technology was announced last year and for those who are hearing about it for the first time, this is basically a piece of camera technology that will be able to detect gestures, come with facial recognition, and can even detect finger-level movements as well, making it a lot more subtle.

That being said, Razer who is primarily a games peripheral maker, has announced a new camera which will take advantage of Intel’s RealSense technology. The idea of this camera is to enhance the gaming experience of its users, and at the same time will also appeal to internet broadcasters such as those on Twitch.

According to Razer, “Among the novel features of this technology is automatic background removal, which allows game streamers and video conferencing users to remove or replace backgrounds for a more entertaining and immersive experience.” Razer’s CEO Min-Liang Tan adds, “Gamers will, we expect, be able to enhance their broadcasting and VR experience in unprecedented ways.”

Unfortunately the official name of the device, its availability, or its pricing has yet to be confirmed, but as you can see in the image above that was posted on Razer’s Facebook page, it will be “coming soon”, so check back with us at a later date for the details.
