For those who are curious about the recently launched OnePlus 2 and how it will handle repairs, you will be pleased to learn that the phone is relatively easy to repair. This is according to the folks at iFixit who have conducted a teardown of the handset. They have rated the OnePlus 2 a 7 out 10 in terms of ease of repair.
According to the publication, they cite a single non-proprietary screw head as being one of the reasons why it will be easier and cheaper to repair. The teardown also revealed modular components meaning that replacing individual parts is possible, as opposed to having to replace groups of components which can be expensive.
The USB-C port also relies on a flex cable instead of an assembly, so fixing that should not be too difficult either. However iFixit points out that the display could be problematic as the LCD and digitizer are fused together, meaning that if one component fails, you’ll need to replace both. The teardown is rather extensive and if you’d like to learn more, pop on over to iFixit for the details.
