Munster claims that the release date of the Oculus Rift will be unveiled at the company’s Connect 2 conference which is currently scheduled for the 23-25th of September 2015. The conference has been described as a “developer conference where engineers, designers, and creatives from around the world come together to learn about the future of the Oculus platform and push virtual reality forward.”
There is no mention of potential announcements, but we suppose it wouldn’t be too hard to fit in a quick announcement of the device’s release date. Munster also claims that he expects Oculus VR to begin taking pre-orders for the virtual reality headset before the US holiday season of 2015, and estimates that it should begin shipping to customers in the first half of 2016.
He states that this is done in order to better compete with the HTC Vive which is expected to be released before the end of the year. Whether or not this happens remains to be seen, but do check back with us during Connect 2 for the details.
