NVIDIA has a game streaming service called GRID which lets users stream PC games to the company’s portable gaming machines that are powered by Android. GRID has been in beta stage for a couple of years now but NVIDIA expected to launch it formally last month but that didn’t happen. It appears that the final launch has been postponed again because NVIDIA has extended the free service of the GRID game streaming service till September.
NVIDIA has been regularly providing updates for the software and has been adding new games to GRID’s catalog, the service is still available for free on the SHIELD Tablet, Portable and TV.
Back in June the company said that the free preview was extended till July 31st because the final launch will take place in August, this latest extension shows that it’s very likely this service won’t have a full launch at least in August.
NVIDIA has also updated GRID’s promotional website to reflect this change, the website now mentions that this service is free until September 2015.
So while users keep accessing this service for free they’ll also keep on wondering how much the company intends on charging from them once the final launch takes place, we’ll probably get this information when NVIDIA is close to flipping the switch.
