Nokia 222 Is Microsoft’s $37 Phone With Month-Long Battery Life

Many have been waiting for Microsoft to launch the two high-end Lumia handsets that we keep hearing about every now and then, Microsoft has launched two new phones today but they’re far from those Lumias. The company has launched the Nokia 222 and Nokia 22 Dual SIM today, it can still use the Nokia brand so don’t get confused and start thinking that the Finland-based company is back in the game, these are cheap smartphones aimed squarely at emerging markets.

Technically these handsets are not smartphones but they are capable of doing much more than a conventional feature phone, both the Nokia 222 and its dual SIM variant come with Facebook, Twitter, Facebook Messenger and Skype, they will allow users to browse the internet over 2.5G connections.

The phones also have a 2 megapixel rear camera, obviously the picture quality won’t be spectacular, but for somebody looking to buy a cheap device it just adds more value for money.

Microsoft promises 29 days of standby time for Nokia 222 and 21 days for the dual SIM variant with both providing up to 20 hours of talk time. The handsets have a built-in MP3 player and FM radio with enough juice for up to 45 hours of radio and 50 hours of MP3 playback.

Nokia 222 and Nokia 222 Dual SIM will be released in select markets from next month, it will cost $37 before subsidies and local taxes.
