That being said for those who are wondering about the device and if it is real, here’s some additional evidence to support that. According to a recent sighting, it seems that the Nexus 8 tablet has popped up on Geekbench 3. The benchmark even explicitly refers to its model and model ID as the Nexus 8.
Of course it is entirely possible that the benchmarks were faked, but if it is real, it does clue us in as to what to expect. For starters it does not appear to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It has been speculated that maybe MediaTek could be behind it, but either way this device is clocked at 1.3GHz with 8-cores.
It also appears to be running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but other than that not much else is known about the device. Given that we’ve been sort of disappointed the past two years that there has not been a Nexus 8 announcement, we’re not sure what will change this year, but either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled for now.
