The report claims that they will be thicker by as much as 0.2mm which apparently will be indiscernible. Hopefully this means that cases designed for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will continue working for it though, although we suppose there will be some cases that might have been designed too tight that won’t fit.
That being said, it does line up with an earlier report by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who also claimed that the next-gen iPhone will be thicker, but he claimed it would be 0.13mm while this report claims 0.2mm. Either way it looks like the phone will be thicker than its predecessor at the end of the day.
This is largely thanks to the rumored inclusion of the Force Touch sensor, so if you thought the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus felt a tad too thin, perhaps the next-gen iPhones will be a little better to hold, but until we hear from Apple, take it with a grain of salt for now.
