Microsoft Translator is an app not unlike Google Translate, you speak into the device in your native language and it can translate that to one of the many languages that it supports. Such apps make traveling a bit easier particularly in countries where you might not be familiar at all with the local language. Microsoft today released the Translator app for Android Wear and Apple Watch.
Given that most smartwatches out there are powered by Android Wear or happen to be the Apple Watch this app is going to reach a major chunk of the smartwatch market, it’s function is simple, just speak into the watch if you’d like something to be translated into the 50 languages that Microsoft Translator supports.
You can translate even faster with the app by pinning commonly used translations and settings to the watch screen for quick access, and even browse a history of recently used phrases.
There are companion applications for iPhone and Android which allow you to manage settings and translate from the device, if you’re in a situation where you would like to have typed text translated instead then for that purpose you’ll need to whip out your smartphone.
Microsoft’s updated Translator app is available for download from the App Store and the Google Play Store.
