According to an earlier rumor, despite Microsoft apparently passing up the opportunity to launch new devices at IFA 2015, they are instead expected to host an event of their own in October where they will announce new Lumia devices, a new Surface tablet, and the Microsoft Band 2 amongst other things.
That being said if you were after a more concrete date, you might be interested to learn that the 19th of October could be it. This is according to a report from NokiaPowerUser who claims to have gotten a tip about the possible date. However the site notes that they have not been able to verify this claim with their trusted sources, so do take it with a grain of salt for now.
The report also claims that the event will be held in New York and just like the previous report, the event will also play host to other Microsoft products like the Surface Pro 4 and the Band 2. Just as quick recap for those who might have missed the earlier rumors, the Lumia 940 XL is the larger of the two phones with a 5.7-inch QHD display.
It will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM and will sport a 20MP PureView rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. There will also be a built-in iris scanner for security. The Lumia 940 will feature the exact same specs save for its smaller 5.2-inch display and its Snapdragon 808 processor.
