Earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress 2015 BlackBerry revealed that later this year it will release a new slider smartphone. This form factor isn’t common these days, but since the company is looking to thing outside the box to regain relevance in the smartphone market, it didn’t surprise anyone that it was going with this form factor. The company hasn’t revealed much about this device since then but there has been a steady stream of leaks recently, the latest leaked pictures show off the BlackBerry Venice’s slider mechanism.
It’s not just the slider form factor that stands out, this is apparently going to be BlackBerry’s first Android-powered device, even though it’s likely that the software will feature heavy BB10-inspired optimizations.
Latest pictures of the BlackBerry Venice have surfaced online and they offer a really good look at the device as well as its slider mechanism. As per a recent leak this device will have a 5.4 inch Quad HD curved display and a full QWERTY keyboard and that slides out from under the display.
As far as specifications go it’s expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB RAM, may also have a 16 megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, optimized Android Lollipop all wrapped up in BlackBerry’s signature sturdy build.
Could this device finally bring BlackBerry out of the slump? Would you be interested in an Android device that features a full QWERTY keyboard?
