Perhaps we tend to take things for granted, but the wallpapers found on our smartphones aren’t just a bunch of pretty pictures and are usually well thought out to either create a signature look for the phone, or to provide a background where app icons can stand out easily. We’ve seen how much attention to detail Apple has put into the Apple Watch’s Motion face, and now it looks like that same attention to detail could be arriving on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.
According to a report from 9to5Mac, they claim that their sources have told them that there is a chance that the next-gen iPhones could be getting an Apple Watch-like Motion wallpaper. These animated wallpapers will go beyond the ones introduced earlier in iOS 7, and will feature more elaborate animations such as colorful arrays of smoke or to a koi fish swimming in water. In fact a recently leaked iPhone 6s Plus box showed off such a design.
That being said, we have to wonder if this means that the new iPhones will feature a better/newer display? In an interview with Jony Ive earlier this year by The New Yorker, Ive talked about the Motion face of the Apple Watch and claimed that they’ve managed to achieve blacker blacks on the Apple Watch, allowing these Motion faces to come to life. Ive also added that this might not work on the iPhone’s display.
It is also unclear if these wallpapers will be exclusive to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, or if they might be available to everyone when iOS 9 rolls out to the masses, but take it with a grain of salt for now, although we won’t have to wait much longer to find out as Apple’s event has been confirmed for the 9th of September.
