Let’s say you’re feeling particularly lazy and don’t want to walk over to your computer to wake it up. If you have a computer with Windows 10 and Intel’s Skylake processor, you can actually wake up your device by saying, “Cortana, wake up,” and your computer should wake up just like that.
It’s a pretty nifty feature and was recently announced at IDF 2015 where Intel revealed that the feature is thanks to its Skylake processor. The processor actually comes with a built-in low-power digital signal processor that is continuously listening for your voice and the key phrase, meaning that no physical action has to be done on your part.
This is actually a feature that has been built into the Xbox One and devices like the Moto X, so we have to admit it is pretty cool. In fact there is also a way to enable “Hey Cortana” on your Windows 10 PC so that once your computer has woken up, you can just say “Hey Cortana” and ask it do search or launch something for you, all without using your hands!
However like we said this is a feature for the Intel Skylake processor, although to be fair it was also available on last year’s Core M, but Windows 10 with Cortana had yet to be launched then, so if you’re looking to take advantage of this, make sure your computer has the latest Intel chipset.
