Google’s certainly into making connected devices as evident by its acquisition of Dropcam and Nest but this time around the company has teamed up with TP-Link to develop a smart wireless router called “OnHub.” It’s much better than conventional wireless routers because it has some great features to it and there’s even a mobile application to manage it all rather easily.

The router supports 802.11 b/g/n/ac at 2.4 and 5GHz, it has a circular array of 13 antennas to provide a strong signal and it automatically scans every five minutes to locate the least congested wireless channel.

OnHub remembers the user’s favorite devices and how much data those devices normally use so that more bandwidth can be allocated to them. It’s capable of automatically adjusting channels and bandwidth, there’s even a speaker inside it. Google On app can be used to control and manage settings on the router through a smartphone or tablet.

The router only has one ethernet port on the back which means that if the user wants more wired connections they will be required to add a switch for that purpose. OnHub supports Bluetooth Smart, Google Weave, Zigbee, has a USB 3.0 port for fast network attached storage and it’s available in black and blue colors from the Google Store.

OnHub costs $199 and if an order is placed today it will ship within 2-3 weeks. Google will also sell it through retailers like Amazon, Walmart and Newegg.
