Just like how Angry Birds was one of the original games for smartphones that truly took advantage of what devices could offer back in the day, Halfbrick’s Fruit Ninja is also part of that bunch. The game took advantage of gestures on smartphones where players could swipe in order to cut fruit, get combos, and score as many points as possible.
That being said, the studio has recently announced that the game has turned five years old and to celebrate their fifth anniversary, the developers have pushed out a special update that introduces new features and gameplay to the game. This includes an Anniversary Tournament where players will face off against six iconic opponents.
Upon completion, players will win themselves a new legendary blade. Additional gameplay features also includes new mini games where players can choose from juggling fruit to manipulating bombs and more. We have to admit that the game is pretty old and just like Angry Birds, has gotten long in the tooth, but hopefully this update will rejuvenate it and introduce it to new players who are hearing about it for the first time.
The update is free for those of you who have purchased the game, but for those who have yet to purchase it, Fruit Ninja is available via the iTunes App Store and Google Play for $0.99.
