Final Fantasy 7 was originally released back in 1997, meaning that it is 18 years old now, making it a very old game. However despite it being so old, it is considered to one of the classics and many regard it as one of the best titles in the Final Fantasy series. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that it has sold extremely well over the years.
According to the numbers, it seems that Final Fantasy VII has managed to sell 11 million units worldwide since its release. This takes into account the original PlayStation version that was released in the 1990s, and the PC version that was released on Steam. With its recent release on iOS, we expect that those numbers should begin climbing higher as well.
We also expect that those numbers will keep increasing, thanks to Square Enix who officially announced that they will be remaking Final Fantasy VII. According to the developer, the game will be a remake and not a HD remaster, this means that the game will be different from the one you’re probably familiar with.
However we’re hoping that it won’t be too huge of a departure and it will retain the elements that made the original so great.
