Gamers might recall that last month, Bethesda promised that they would finally release Fallout Shelter for Android devices on the 13th of August. If you’re an Android gamer who has been eagerly anticipating the release, the wait is finally over as Fallout Shelter has been released and is available for download via Google Play.
For those who are unfamiliar, Fallout Shelter is a sim-like game. Basically you are in charge of a Fallout vault. You will have to grow your population, give them jobs, and defend yourself against attacks from the enemy. There is no “end” to this game, kind of like Tiny Tower, so basically you just keep growing yourself until you decide you’re done.
Gamers will be able to earn new weapons and characters via Lunchboxes. These are optional in-app purchases and aren’t necessary to enjoy the game, but you can go ahead and buy them if you want to earn gold, weapons, or people faster. In fact according to the stats, it has been estimated that Bethesda pulled in a whopping $5.1 million from in-app purchases within two weeks.
The game has gone on to dominate app charts around the world, although admittedly the hype has died down somewhat. In any case if you’d still like to see what all the fuss is/was about, head on over to Google Play for the free download.
