At that time we suggested that maybe this is a one-off occurrence but as it turns out, that might not necessarily be the case. In fact the folks at EE have announced that they will be recalling some of their Power Bar units. Before you get too alarmed, EE notes that only a very small number of incidents have happened where the device overheated.
However to play safe, the company has decided to recall a particular batch which they have identified as being prone to overheating. According to the company, “EE has identified a very small number of incidents where Power Bars have overheated, all of which relate to batch E1-06 (written as Model:E1-06 on the side of the device), and could pose a fire safety risk.”
They add, “We’re therefore recalling batch E1-06 and request that customers stop using them and return their device to a local EE store at their earliest convenience.” If you want to check if your EE Power Bar is part of the units being recalled, refer to the image above to check again your device’s model number. If you do have one of the affected units, you should head to an EE store to return it.
