According to a statement released by Apple, it has been revealed that the album has been streamed an impressive 25 million times since its opening week. It was also downloaded half a million times via the iTunes Store, which actually represents people buying and paying for it.
According to Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre’s partner in Beats and who also works for Apple, “We’re beginning to show what we can do in terms of communicating music to a worldwide audience and helping artists at the same time.” That being said it has been pointed out by the New York Times that the 25 million was not broken down.
This makes it unclear if the album was streamed in full 25 million times, or if this represents an aggregated stream across individual songs, with the former being a lot more impressive if that were the case. In the meantime Apple Music appears to be doing pretty well as last we heard, the Cupertino company had managed to sign 11 million trial subscribers to its music service.
