The Density sensor is a tiny sensor that anyone can setup in their home, office, restaurant, bar, club, and etc. Basically it’s a break beam sensor similar the one used by elevators and automated doors, but thanks to its pairing with an app, it turns it into a much more functional and feature-rich device.
Like we said it can be used by venues such as restaurants and bars where it will be able to detect the number of people inside that particular location. From there and through an app, users will be able to know if the place they’re planning on frequenting is packed or not. So if you’re the type that hates crowded locations, like at the gym, then you can scout ahead of time and go when there’s less people.
Alternatively venues could use Density for promotional purposes as well, like when business is a bit quiet, they can use it to promote happy hour or discounts if you were to come now. Of course this will rely on locations installing the sensor, but perhaps as more businesses start finding a use for it, we will start seeing it installed in more places. In the meantime Google has a similar feature that could be a worthy alternative.
