Earlier this year Canon announced their latest mirrorless camera in the form of the Canon EOS M3. Previously Canon’s mirrorless efforts could be said to be somewhat half-hearted so safe to say, we were very curious about how the EOS M3 would perform. Unfortunately at the time of announcement, Canon stated that there were no plans to bring it stateside.
However according to a report from Canon Rumors, they have heard from one of their sources that there is a possibility of the camera making its way to the North American market. Canon USA is said to be currently debating the idea of whether or not they should bring the device here, which we guess isn’t surprising given the stiff competition in the mirrorless market these days.
That being said if they do, it will be the second EOS M camera to arrive in North America. Canon had initially launched the original EOS M in the US in 2013. However it successor did not make its way stateside which is why it didn’t come as a surprise that the EOS M3 did not follow suit as well.
It will be interesting to see how a camera like the EOS M3 will fare in the US market, especially in the face of stiff competition from the likes of Sony, Olympus, Fujifilm, and more. Until then take it with a grain of salt, but is the EOS M3 something you’d like to see arrive in this part of the world?
