However Silent Circle did not mention how much the Blackphone 2 will cost, but given that its predecessor was priced at $630, we suppose there is a good chance that the Blackphone 2 will be priced the same, or at least around the same range. The company also notes that the phone will begin shipping in September, but no specific dates were mentioned.
That being said, what can one expect from the Blackphone 2? Just in case you missed the earlier announcement, the Blackphone 2 will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display. It will be powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera, support for Quick Charge, and a microSD card slot for memory expansion.
It will also run on Silent OS which is basically a modified and supposedly more secure version of Android. Unfortunately despite being powered by Android, it will not have access to Google Play. Instead Silent Circle is expected to debut a secure app store of their own, so hopefully we’ll it launch in time with the handset.
