Having a smartphone with a huge battery is one thing, but it will also need users to take into consideration that it takes longer to charge than a phone with a smaller battery. That being said, if you’re after a phone that will charge quickly, the folks at Tom’s Guide have conducted several tests and based on their findings, the ASUS Zenfone 2 is the winner.
They tested a variety of smartphones which included the Nexus 6, OnePlus 2, the Galaxy S6, the LG G4, the Motorola Droid Turbo, and the iPhone 6. Granted all phones have different battery sizes, but basically the idea is to determine how much of the phone’s battery would charge in a fixed amount of time.
First they tried 5 minutes and the Zenfone 2 was the quickest of the lot and managed to hit 17%, followed by the Nexus 6 and OnePlus 2 at 12% each. After 15 minutes, the Zenfone 2 continued in the lead at 32% while the Galaxy S6 caught up and came in second place at 27%. After 30 minutes, both the Zenfone 2 and Galaxy S6 were tied at 53% each.
However it seems that as the phone began to reach its 100% mark, the Zenfone 2 slowed down considerably and allowed the Galaxy S6 to hit its maximum the fastest, followed by the LG G4. Ultimately the Zenfone 2 came in fourth when it was charged from 80-100%, however as Tom’s Guide notes, the Zenfone 2 is still the winner as it gives you the most power in the shortest amount of time.
This is important if you’re out and you don’t have the luxury of charging to full, so in this case the Zenfone 2 will allow you to charge to a higher percentage quicker that will hopefully get you through the rest of the day.
