Usually when movies are made about video games, they tend to deviate from the game’s original story. We suppose this is done because the story has already been played out, and also maybe because some directors don’t want to step on the toes of hardcore fans of these movies, but so far most video game-cum-movies have turned out rather badly.
However could things change with the Assassin’s Creed movie? According to a tweet by the Assassin’s Creed Twitter account, it has been revealed that the movie and the games will all be connected to each other. Not just limited to game, but it will also affect future comics and books that are made about the Assassin’s Creed universe.
According to the post, “We share the same universe. Elements in the film have consequences as in our games, comics, and books.” This means that whatever you see in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie, or whatever you remember from previous Assassin’s Creed titles, should have some kind of impact on the movie and vice versa, such as future games.
Hopefully this will appease fans who want to dive deeper into the Assassin’s Creed franchise, as opposed to branching off into separate stories that are canon to the game. In any case we suppose we’ll have to wait and see how the movie does, but it will be a while as the movie has been pegged for a release in 2016.
