According to Cue, he has revealed that Apple has managed to lock in 11 million subscribers since Apple Music was launched. However it should be noted that these are only trial subscribers, meaning that for the next 3 months, Apple will not be pulling in any revenue from Apple Music and it remains to be seen if those 11 million subscribers will be sticking around after that.
Last month we reported that based on the unofficial numbers, Apple Music saw about 10 million subscribers and now it looks like the numbers are pretty damn close. Apple is said to be aiming for a whopping 100 million subscribers, but like we said it remains to be seen if these initial 11 million subscribers will stay past the trial period, and more importantly if they will subscribe.
Assuming that these 11 million do, it would allow Apple to quickly catchup to Spotify who last we checked, had 15 million paid subscribers and 60 million active subscribers overall, which given that Spotify is the leader in terms of music streaming will be the numbers to beat. What do you guys think? Will Apple be able to retain those subscribers?
