Prior to the launch of the iPhone, and for a while after the launch, the iPod was one of Apple’s most popular gadgets. After all you choose to have an iPod that could store all your music, or you could have one small enough to clip onto your shirt while you’re out for a jog. However fast forward to today, it seems that Apple is giving the iPod even less attention than ever.
According to a report from 9to5Mac, it seems that Apple will be demoting that iPod and will be relocating it to the accessory shelves. This means that device will not be getting the same amount of attention as other Apple products. In fact this seems to be in line with an update to Apple’s website a couple of months ago where they removed the direct link to the iPod section.
It is clear that despite having recently refreshed the iPod that Apple no longer sees it as a big seller. In fact we wouldn’t be surprised if the day came when Apple might decide to stop selling the iPod entirely, although for the foreseeable future we doubt that will be happening, but given the rate things are going, it could very well be in the cards.
So the next time you want to get yourself an iPod and can’t find it in its usual place in the Apple store, you might want to try checking out the accessory shelves because that is where they will apparently be kept from here onwards.
