Apple Claims Apple Music Survey Results Are Flawed

Apple Music EventEarlier this morning, we brought you word that Apple Music users are jumping ship, with up to 48% of them doing so after giving the service a go. Of course, the claim was brought forward by a survey that was made, and Apple has stepped forward to dismiss such claims, citing that 79% of trial customers happen to continue using the Apple Music service. I suppose statistics can always be massaged or interpreted to a certain degree, so let us hear what Apple has to say.

Apple specifically mentioned that 79% of those who who signed up for a three-month free trial happen to continue being active users. Who’s right in such a situation? Well, 64% of the survey respondents claimed that they were extremely or very likely to continue paying for Apple Music once the trial period ends, although 61% had already turned off auto-renewal features in iTunes.

Apple did not put up any kind of in-depth statistics or analysis, so we have no idea how active users are defined by the Cupertino company. Apart from that, the 79% figure does not point out anything concerning potential conversion rates, and neither do we know how many of them would like to fork out dough to continue with Apple Music services once the trial period comes to an end. On the other hand, MusicWatch’s survey results are not watertight, either, as the percentage of customers who turned off auto-renewal is a wee bit misleading. After all, turning off the automated renewal service does not translate to the intention of not subscribing to the service.
