android-pay-memo

Google announced the Android Pay service earlier this year and said that it would arrive in a few months. The company has now officially revealed Android M’s moniker and as we wait for the new software to arrive it appears that the payment service may go live before the new software comes out. A leaked memo suggests that Android Pay might be launched as soon as August 26th.

The leaked memo is from fast food chain McDonalds, the corporation is apparently notifying employees that starting August 26th customers will be able to use Android Pay to purchase their meals, adding that the service procedure will be similar to Apple Pay, which has already been live for quite some time now.

The fact remains that Android Pay doesn’t need to wait for Android 6.0 Marshmallow to go live, this payment service is compatible with older devices that are powered by KitKat.

Even though there hasn’t been any confirmation from Google or even McDonalds for that matter, it’s very likely that Android Pay could go live on the aforementioned date.

We can expect Google to make some sort of announcement before the payments service goes live, for now though Mountain View remains tightlipped on the matter.
