Google unveiled Android M earlier this year and it got everybody thinking since then about the version number and the moniker for the next major Android update. The company has finally confirmed it though, it’s called Android 6.0 Marshmallow and the new software will be released over the fall. Google has released the third developer preview for Marshmallow and from that preview the Android 6.0 Marshmallow Google Now launcher has been ripped and made available for download.
The third developer preview of the new software is actually the final developer preview which means that the next major release is going to be the actual roll out of Marshmallow itself, however it may take a couple of months before that happens.
The Android community has gone through this latest developer preview and ripped the Google Now launcher from it, the new launcher has been released online and anyone with a supported Android device can try it out.
Keep in mind though that it comes from a pre-release version of Android 6.0 so there are likely to be a few bugs here and there, perhaps you might want to think otherwise if you can’t stand any of that on a smartphone that’s your daily driver.
The new Google Now launcher has some tweaks up its sleeve including performance improvements and new wallpapers, it’s available for download from here.
