When Amazon first teased the Fire Phone, many were excited because with the Kindle Fire series of Android tablets, Amazon had done pretty well for themselves, so many expected that the same level of success would follow with the Fire Phone. Unfortunately that did not happen and the result was an overpriced and underwhelming device.
Over the past year, Amazon has slowly slashed the price of the handset and last we checked, the phone was cut down to $179, where previously it had been sold for a whopping $450. Now if $179 is still a bit too pricey for your liking, you might be interested to learn that the company has slashed the price once again.
Now the phone is only priced at a very affordable $130, and it should be noted that the phone is sold unlocked meaning that there is no contract or obligation to any carrier. So if you want the phone just for app development purposes, all you need to pay is $130 and it is yours. It is unclear if this price slash is permanent as previously we had seen Amazon run short time deals, so you’ll want to move fast before it is all gone.
In the meantime despite the initial flop, Amazon’s CEO has promised that there will be more Fire Phones in the future, which will hopefully will be a result of Amazon learning from their mistakes.
