We’re not sure if you guys remember, but at one point there was a toy sentry gun that was being sold that basically fired foam darts. It was more of an office toy in which you can engage your co-workers in a friendly battle or maybe just to annoy them. For the most part due to the darts made out of foam, it didn’t really hurt.
However if you’re looking to up your game, you might be interested in this little project. Put together by Swiss engineering student Kevin Thomas, this is a 3D printed sentry gun that has the ability to shoot out rubber bands. In fact it is hi-tech enough to the point where it is actually automated thanks to a built-in motion sensor.
This means that anyone walking past your desk has a chance at being shot at, which seems like a great way to get people to stop giving you work to do. Alternatively there is also a manual mode where you get to move it around and fire manually with a joystick. We have to admit that it is pretty awesome and the good news is that if you have a 3D printer, you can make your own.
If you’d like the instructions on how to put it together, head on over to Thingiverse for the details, but if you don’t have the necessary equipment, we guess you’ll have no choice but to just watch it in action in the video above.
