Drones are great for videographers and photographers as it allows them to capture footage that might be previously unavailable to them, thanks to the heights and angles that drones can get themselves into. Now if you’re a drone hobbyist and wouldn’t mind the ability to capture higher quality footage, then Yuneec might have a drone for you.
The company has recently unveiled the Yuneec Typhoon Q500. This is a drone that boasts the ability to capture videos in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second which is an extremely watchable frame rate. It also has the ability to snag 12MP still images which is also very decent, and thanks to its accompanying smartphone app for iOS and Android devices, pilots of the drone will be able to watch the video stream live.
Other features of the drone includes an FAA No Fly feature which basically prevents the drone from entering into airspace deemed by the FAA as a no fly zone. It also sports a three-axis gimbal CG03 4K camera with an optimized fixed focus lens, Steady Grip for land shooting, along with Follow Me and Watch Me functions. It can also fly at 8 meters a second and up to 400 feet above the ground.
However there are a couple of drawbacks and that is the Typhoon Q500 is only capable of 25 minutes of continuous flight on a full charge, although there is a built-in low-battery return feature to ensure the drone won’t suddenly stop and crash to the ground. It is also expensive at $1,299, but if you’re up for it, Yuneec is taking pre-orders with the drone expected to begin shipping later this month.
