yotaphone-2-lollipopEarlier this year you might have heard that the YotaPhone 2 would be making its way stateside. If you were excited to get your hands on the phone, you were not alone as we were just as excited to check it out ourselves. Unfortunately it looks like that will no longer be happening, as confirmed by the company.

The company behind the YotaPhone 2 has recently published a statement in which they confirm that the US launch of the handset has been cancelled. According to them, “The reason for our cancelled launch is due to unforeseen delays including both production and delivery of the North American variant of YotaPhone 2 from our manufacturer.”

They also state that the delay would have been too long, which in turn would be unfair for customers as by that time, the company expects a newer and better YotaPhone. “In turn, we believe that the likelihood of a severe delay in these shipments would have created a conflict with our international road map for 2016, leaving Indiegogo supporters behind when customers in other regions will be offered a newer, cheaper and better YotaPhone.”

This is no doubt disappointing news but the company has some alternative suggestions. They can either send you an unlocked version of the international YotaPhone 2, but that model is only locked to HSPA+ networks meaning you won’t get to use 4G LTE, and it will only place nice with GSM carriers like AT&T.

The other options is to request a refund. Oddly enough the refund will not be charged back to your credit card but sent as a reimbursement to customers directly, which we can only assume is in check form or some other method. The company is expected to reach out to customers in the next week or so to confirm their choices.
