Volkswagen Models With CarPlay Support Arriving This Week

vw-carplayIt looks like Volkswagen has also jumped aboard the CarPlay bandwagon, which is similar in nature to that which is found in Honda’s 2016 Accord model. In fact, the very first batch of Volkswagen models that sport CarPlay support is set to arrive at dealerships later this week, so if you have been holding out on a new Volkswagen purchase, good for you. Sporting a 2nd generation Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB II), this is set to be an important part of Volkswagen’s Car-Net connected vehicles platform, where it delivers a seamless app platform integration with the likes of CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.

Volkswagen hopes to introduce the likes of MIB II across its 2016 range, although there are two exceptions to the rule, so to speak – the Volkswagen Eos and the large Touareg. Other than CarPlay-enabled apps that are on offer, Volkswagen will also put up its very own software such as Media Control, which so happens to be a kind of technology that will be making its way to e-Golf premium models that allows passengers to control selected areas of the MIB II infotainment system. Both General Motors and Ford, too, have confirmed their support for CarPlay in their upcoming 2016 fleet, which is surely a good sign for the future of CarPlay.
