It seems a little odd that despite Android Wear being a Google product that YouTube has yet to make its official debut. However we suppose the tiny display and the fact that its hardware isn’t as powerful compared to smartphones and tablets that maybe streaming video from the internet isn’t exactly an ideal function.
That being said if you have to have YouTube on your wrist, you’re in luck. Thanks to a third-party developer, an app called “Video for Android Wear” has been launched, and as the name suggests, this is an app that will allow users to stream YouTube onto their Android Wear smartwatch.
Like we said this is not an official YouTube app meaning that there is a chance that Google might take offense with it, and also that it might not be as tightly integrated with Android Wear as an official one would be. It is also possible that it could end up being rather buggy given the fact that Android Wear wasn’t designed to handle video playback, although from what we can see it functions pretty well.
In any case if this sounds like an app that you wouldn’t mind having, you can go ahead and download it for free via the Google Play Store. There is also a pro version that will cost $2.99 that will unlock additional features and functions, so if you like what you see, maybe upgrading could be worth it.
