For the most part, developers these days tend to create both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One titles at the same time, but as it turns out despite creating for both platforms, in terms of sales sometimes it can be quite even. Ubisoft recently proved this when they released their latest financial report.
According to the company, it seems that in terms of revenue made from games, the company’s PS4 titles represented more than a fifth of all gaming revenue – 27% to be exact. PC, despite having a larger install base, only came in second at 23%, although admittedly this was a huge increase from the 14% it experienced in the same quarter last year.
As for the other consoles, it seems that only accounted for about 11% each for the PS3, Xbox 360, and the Xbox One. It’s a bit odd that the Xbox one despite it being newer than the PS3 and the Xbox 360 is trailing behind, but if anything it does seem to confirm that the PS4 definitely has the lead over the Xbox One at the moment.
Whether or not this changes in the future remains to be seen. In the meantime as for Nintendo’s consoles, Ubisoft’s report claims that their games on those platforms like the Wii and the Wii U only represented a combined 3% of the company’s software sales revenue, which is a tad disappointing but who knows, perhaps things will change with the Nintendo NX.
