Street Fighter 5’s Beta Has Been Taken Offline

street fighter 5Last week, Capcom thought it would be a great idea to let their fans take Street Fighter 5 for a test run by launching a beta test. Sounds good so far, right? Unfortunately due to a variety of server issues, it seemed that the game was rendered unplayable with Capcom initially opting to suspend the beta until it could be rectified.

However it turns out that the server issues have been severe enough where Capcom has decided to suspend the beta indefinitely until they believe it is good to go. In a statement issued by Capcom, they confirmed that the issues faced by the game was a lot worse than they had thought. “While the purpose of a beta is to work out these type of issues, it was very clear that the issues we faced were more severe than we were prepared for.”

Capcom also added, “After three days of testing, while we were making progress and collecting valuable data, we felt the majority of players were not having a good experience, and the best course of action would be to take the servers offline for extended maintenance. We will be postponing our first beta phase until we believe the experience is going to be a positive one for players.”

While this is indeed disappointing news, we suppose we’re glad that Capcom caught onto the issues early into development, unlike Batman: Arkham Knight where the issues with the game were only discovered after it had been officially released. The game has been scheduled for a release in March 2016 so safe to say they have plenty of time to fix it.
