It has been discovered that the Solitaire Collection will come bundled with Windows 10, which we suppose is to be expected since Microsoft has typically bundled small games with their OS. However with Windows 10, Microsoft is hoping that you would actually be willing to pay a subscription fee to play the game.
The game itself is free to play, but deploys ads as a means for Microsoft to generate revenue. However if you’d like to lose the ads and buy some in-game currency, you will have to pay $1.49 a month in subscription, or $9.99 for an entire year’s worth of subscription. Yes, you read that right, we never thought we’d see the day where you would actually have to pay for Solitaire.
However as Time notes, this isn’t the first time that Microsoft has tried to charge for Solitaire, and to a certain extent it makes sense given how many PCs the game would be installed on by default, meaning that there’s a lot of potential revenue to be had, but what say you? Are you willing to set aside $10 a year for an ad-free Solitaire experience?
