‘Sin-Free Facebook’ Launched In Brazil

Facebook might very well be the most happening social network around, and parents would need to make sure that their children know who they are interacting with since you can never quite tell just what kind of offensive material that they might come across. It could be violence, smut, foul language, the list goes on, which is why policing the Internet and anything associated with it might be deem to be an impossible task. Still, not for the want of trying, Faceglória has been launched in Brazil, where the owners claim that 100,000 people have already signed up for it – as this site bans content that is deemed offensive to monotheistic faiths.

This is touted to be a Facebook alternative for those who would want a ‘cleaner’ social network, so to speak. Faceglória web designer Atilla Barros shared, “On Facebook there is a lot of violence and pornography, so thought we’d found a network where we could talk about God, love, and share your word.”

Content that are prohibited on Faceglória include profane words, violent, and erotic details. There have been more than 600 terms banned from being used on the site, and at least 20 volunteers will keep an eye on the site at all times. It is hard to see this idea take off globally in this day and age, however, and it might end up as a “Holy Huddle” when you think about it. Still, it is interesting to see how the world has plenty of different personalities and ideas floating around – everyone just has to make room to fit everyone else in.
