Now Sharp and Samsung are names you’re probably familiar with as both companies have supplied displays for various Apple products in the past. However missing from that list is LG who has supplied iPad displays to the Cupertino company, but the reports suggest that due to yield issues, LG was not chosen.
It also seems that Sharp will be taking the lead on the display panel supply, with Samsung reportedly being the secondary supplier, and also presumably will pick up the slack should Sharp encounter any issues themselves, or if the quality is not up to scratch and Apple desperately needs panels for the tablet.
So far what we know about the tablet is that its larger 12.9-inch display is real thanks to hints found in iOS 9. In fact its resolution also appears to have been confirmed which is set at 2732 x 2048, which after factoring in its display size should end up with a pixel density similar to that of the iPad Air, which we suppose isn’t a bad thing.
