A couple of months ago it was confirmed that Samsung would be launching a round smartwatch. This is a first for the company as previously they had released square-ish styled smartwatches. In fact one of the alleged unique features of the watch was its rotating bezel which is apparently one of the ways to interact with said device.
Now according to the folks at SamMobile, it looks like Samsung has pretty much confirmed the feature themselves. This was revealed at Samsung’s Tizen Developer Summit where Samsung pretty much revealed that their upcoming smartwatch would feature a rotating bezel, although at this point it is unclear as to what exactly it will do for the smartwatch.
We can only assume that just like the Apple Watch’s digital crown that the rotating bezel will offer up similar functionality. In fact we do like the idea of a bezel a tad more as it would larger and easier to reach compared to the small knob on the Apple Watch, but to each their own. Unfortunately apart from confirming the feature, Samsung did not mention anything else about the device.
However according to the rumors, the Samsung Gear A is said to be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 3472 processor. It will come with 768MB of RAM, 4GB of onboard storage, a 250mAh battery, and the usual array of sensors. No word on when Samsung will announce the device, but the company has scheduled an Unpacked event for the 13th of August, so maybe we will learn more then.
