Harmonix is expected to release the latest installment in the Rock Band franchise, Rock Band 4, later this year. We expect that the developers will not only introduce new songs, but there will be new features for gamers to mess around with as well. Turns out that there will be and one of those features is the ability for gamers to perform freestyle guitar solos.
Previously older Rock Band titles as well as Guitar Hero titles only allowed players to play the solo based on the notes shown on the screen. We suppose this makes sense especially when you consider that it is part of the original song, and the original song is kind of why gamers play the game in the first place, right?
However sometimes the freedom to express oneself can be too alluring and this is something that Harmonix wants to capitalize on. In Rock Band 4, gamers will be able to pull off their own guitar solos. All they’d have to do is the tap the buttons on the guitar controller for the notes and let their own creativity cook up something unique.
Players will also be able to bend notes as well as create feedback effects which could help enhance the solo. It’s a pretty awesome idea and if you want to check it out, watch the video above where the folks at TechCrunch were given a brief demo of the feature in action.
